Ahh, April Fool’s day – the perfect day for harmless pranks on friends and significant others, just to keep them in line, of course! Though we all wish we could be as clever as Jim and Pam, we might have to settle for pranks that are a little less elaborate.

Thankfully, various brewing companies don’t have this philosophy, and do everything they can to provide their fans with jarring concoctions to really keep their taste buds alive! If you’re looking for some great brews with truly surprising ingredients, you’ve come to the right place. Check out this list of past April Fool’s day pranks by renowned breweries, who produce otherwise superb beers, for a chance to shock your tongue and tickle your sense of humor.

1. Stone Cr(He)am Ale

Over the years, Stone Brewing Co. has led a number of April Fool’s campaigns, delighting in pranks that poke fun at “the parts of the industry [they] consider less than stellar.” Their good-natured fun ranged from making light of ridiculous beer retailing to the various diet fads that have swept the nation in recent years, but their helium-infused beer of 2014 – Stone Stochasticity Project Cr(He)am Ale with Helium – took the cake.
